The death of an idea, the death of a blog.

So this thing hasn't been updated since I finished FAQ issue 2. The comic bombed, I wasn't happy with it. It was a failed experiment with bad design and even worse writing. I'm moving on to new material now. Maybe one day I will return to the world of FAQ but for now I want freedom to do whatever story I want. On top of that, this blog is super stale. I have grown a lot since I started this thing 3 or 4 years ago and now I want to move onto something new. I am going to start blogging on blogspot, it will feature my own work as well as critiques of whatever comics I am reading, walkthroughs of my process as well as commentary on the comics world. Hopefully the material will be well rounded and will take me to the next level artistically. I can not thank you all enough for reading my blog over the years and I hope you will keep in touch with me on blogspot. I will still be reading all my friends' LJ's and commenting from time to time. So I guess I'll see you folks around at seanversuscomics.blogspot.com Also check out my new work area as well as a sneak peak of a new project.

I'm currently writing the script for issue 2 in my head, I find it very difficult yet necessary to physically write out a script. It is so tedious to imagine all of this fun stuff to draw and restrain myself to typing out descriptions of it. One could say that I should just thumbnail out my stories, I would do this but I find it really difficult for people to peer review my comic if it is just a bunch of gestures and scribbles. Does anyone else face this dilemma?

Savannah has been treating me okay. I probably won't be able to go to SCAD, well, at least not until grad school but that's a few years down the road. I'm looking into going to Armstrong, I guess they can consider me a resident of Georgia since I work full time. This is really good news because in state tuition for a state school in Georgia is cheaper than community college tuition in new york. It's crazy! Armstrong seems very affordable and I can't wait to go. The only thing that's been bugging me lately is the serious lack of ladies in my life. Hopefully this will change once I go back to school. Then again I was never that good with girls in college either...
I have been going through another R. Crumb phase. I bought a couple issues of Weirdo and Zap Comix from Bizzaro Wuxtry back at Fluke and it re-sparked an old interest in his work. I'm thinking about popping in the Crumb documentary today. I mean I have seen the damn thing dozens of times but I still love watching it, I always get something new out of the film. I bought "Kafka" with illustrations by Crumb as well as full comics adapted from passages of Kafka's most popular books. Also the Jen Library has a few volumes of the complete crumb collection, I love them. I used to just be interested in Crumb's illustration talent, but as I become more of an adult, particularly a poor, cynical, cartoonist, I find I really connect to his stories as well.

Save the internet.

http://stopvirgin.movielol.org/. Virgin has confirmed that they are talking to other major corporations about destroying net neutrality. For those of you that don't know what net neutrality is, it's equal bandwidth for everyone. Big companies like comcast verizon and virgin want to get rid of net neutrality so they can sell bandwidth at a premium rate to people who have money, this means the little guy's voice won't be heard anymore. I think all the grassroots movements that have happened recently have had a lot to do with the accessibility of the internet. These companies want to silence the voice of the little guy and turn your internet into another shitty tv channel. I think everyone can help by just raising their voice. The internet is a tool that has opened up so many possibilities for all sorts of people. Why take that away?

So I went to John Chad's Manly Man birthday party last night. It was good to see a lot of faces I haven't seen in a while, not to mention quite a few new ones. My only regret: I was totally smashed when I met a lot of these new faces, so now they probably will know me as that drunk asshole at John's party. Oh well. Not to mention, John's Shortstack card game is incredible looking. There is also a zine fest that is going to be in February at the Student Center, I'm really excited about this. okay okay, here's this week's FAQ, kinda lame though, I'm sorry.

Hoppy Halidays!

Man o'man it's my last full week in New York and then I'm off to Savannah! I really can't wait to move back. Work has been extra stressful lately because of the lack of man power for the job. I really hate stocking shelves and having some stupid yuppie trying to buy pie filling so she can make the perfect christmas dinner and impress her horrible mother in law and gain her approval, like in those stupid yuppie holiday movies. Dear yuppie, I fucking hate you, please drive your incredibly smug hybrid vehicle off of a cliff and die. P.S.: you drink far too much bottled water to call yourself an environmentalist, it kind of negates your hybrid car. Bitterness aside though, here is this week's F.A.Q.
also folks, you should really be checking out the Danger Park blog Andrew Greenstone has started his very own bi-weekly webcomic, and Alex Bullett got a haircut!

Late webcomic?

Man, way to start a webcomic and then by the 5th post be late. I think it's the early days in a webcomic that are most crucial and since I already posted a late strip I think it may be seen as a sign of web comic fading but it totally isn't I already have the next month's worth of strips done. I couldn't scan them this sunday so I didn't post in time. Enough of the excuses though. I have my next month's worth of strips scanned and ready to be posted now, so no excuses! Andrew and Alex did cover my ass this week though, and I must say I absolutely love their contributions to the strip. As an apology, not only am I posting the strip on the danger park blog but I'll post it here ] But I do encourage you guys to drop by the blog and check out the outstanding fanart (I don't even want to call it that, it's way better than fanart) that Alex and Andrew posted yesterday. Thanks for sticking with me and I promise NO MORE LATE COMICS!
